Here at the Amnesty International Studentgroup Amsterdam (AISA), we are committed to investing our expertise and resources in order to further our cause. Since 2000, we’ve been supporting our community members in a variety of ways. We measure our success not by monetary size, but by the scale and effectiveness of our efforts.
Just imagine what we can achieve together!
Join our writing nights!
Every month we come together to uphold one of Amnesty's oldest traditions: the writing of letters. During these evenings we order a budget meal, demand the release of prisoners of conscience, and condemn states for their violations of human rights. Remember the butterfly effect; a small breeze created by the flapping of a butterfly's wings may turn into a tornado on the other side of the ocean. Similarly, what we may perceive as a small change here in Amsterdam might lead to the release of a prisoner and the saving of a life only a few borders away. Your ink matters here! For exact dates, make sure to check updates on our Facebook!
Join us in our events!
In addition to the general meetings and writing nights, each month we organize educational events or actions. This includes signing petitions, visits to the International Criminal Court (or other human rights related establishments), protests, film screenings, and debates and lectures on human rights related topics. For example, since the start of the school year we have held lectures on human rights and climate change and police brutality. All events are up on Facebook!
